Our first day we walked into town to check it out. Quaint, with a boardwalk instead of sidewalk. Most buildings were somewhat original. Lots of jewelry stores and souvenir Shops. We were there by 8am. By 8:30am, people from the 5 tour boat had entered the town and we could hardly walk down the walkway. Picked up some info and headed back.
Later we walked with Christy and Alex to past the train yard to Reid Falls and the Cemetery dating back to the late 1800's. In late afternoon the 4 of us took the train on the White Pass & Yukon Route. Started out sloooow but after 20min the views were breathtaking.
Day two was exciting for John. He and Doc took a hike on part of the Chilkoot Trail. They left at 6am and returned by 5pm. They had hiked 8 miles into Canyon City and back( a total of 16mi) along the same trail that those seeking Gold during the Klondike Gold Rush had taken. Much of it was still the same Very steep and treacherous. He had better than a great time.
I went shopping, tried to get this blog and or Internet to accept my photos and then went with everyone again to shop and walk the town . For me shopping after an hour is tedious and I was out over 4. I got home after John.
